Jahangirnagar University Announces Biological Sciences Admission Results: High Female Pass Rate Observed
Jahangirnagar University has officially released the admission test results for the D unit, encompassing the Faculty of Biological Sciences, for the first-year undergraduate Honours program of the 55th batch. The announcement, made on Thursday night via the university’s dedicated admission test website, reveals an overall pass rate of 39.10 percent among the aspiring students.
The D unit admission test saw a significant number of candidates vying for limited spots within the Faculty of Biological Sciences. A total of 70,221 candidates participated in the examination. Out of this large pool, 22,671 candidates successfully met the criteria to pass the D unit test.
Breaking down the successful candidates by gender, the results indicate a notable trend. 8,237 male students and 14,434 female students have passed the examination. This gender distribution highlights a higher proportion of female students achieving success in this particular admission test.
Professor Mohammad Mafruhi Sattar, the Dean of the Faculty of Biological Sciences, commented on the participation and success rates of female candidates. He observed that female participation in the D unit admission test was comparatively higher. The data supports this observation, with 33,491 female candidates appearing for the test. Of these, 14,434 passed, resulting in an impressive female pass rate of 43.10 percent.
In contrast, the male candidates faced a more competitive landscape. A total of 24,491 male candidates took the D unit test, and 8,237 of them were successful. This translates to a male pass rate of 33.63 percent. While both genders demonstrated strong academic performance, the figures suggest that female candidates achieved a higher success rate in the D unit admission test.
The Faculty of Biological Sciences offers a total of 310 seats for the D unit intake. These seats are equally divided between male and female students, with 155 seats reserved for male students and an equal 155 seats reserved for female students. This gender-based allocation means that the competition for each seat is intense, underscoring the achievement of those who have passed.
