Alreinamedia.com-Deputy for Education and Community Participation of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Wawan Wardiana, said that as candidates for national leaders, students must have a character of integrity that is built from an early age, this is to have a positive impact on individual behavior.

Wawan added, the Corruption Eradication Commission through the Directorate of Networking Education has synergized with the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek), as well as other institutions in complementing established education with anti-corruption education. So that the internalization of values to students is intertwined with the value of integrity.

“In fact, it is not enough just to internalize values, because students must have positive experiences when they are studying. This was done with the aim that students would get real examples from teaching staff as role models not to commit acts of corruption,” said Wawan, Wednesday (22/2/2023).

In addition, the KPK continues to make efforts to carry out its duties through several approaches. First, through education, by building anti-corruption values at all levels of society with the aim that all Indonesians understand corruption and its effects, so that through education no one has the intention to commit corruption.

“Second through prevention, by building and improving an existing system to prevent perpetrators from committing acts of corruption. Third, through prosecution, this approach is the last approach to provide a deterrent effect to perpetrators who are caught in corruption,” said Wawan.

Wawan reminded the IPDN students who were present to maintain the integrity and dignity of the world of education, including the campus as an institution that produces intellectuals. He also said that if the world of education failed to produce graduates with integrity, the potential for criminal acts of corruption would continue to emerge.

“The education process is expected to become a basic pillar to form the character of integrity. Namely a process to make individual IPDN students not to pawn their integrity as future leaders,” Wawan warned.

Therefore, it is impossible for these three approaches to be realized without the participation of all Indonesian people, including IPDN students. The KPK hopes that IPDN students can become part of the KPK in eradicating corruption.

It is hoped that this is a form of prevention that must continue to be carried out by encouraging public participation, such as students, in the world of education. In addition, IPDN academics can understand and have the courage to maintain integrity in the academic world, as illustrated in the Tri Dharma of Anti-Corruption Higher Education.

IPDN Jakarta Director Prio Teguh conveyed that the presence of Praja (IPDN student) at the KPK was to gain as much practical knowledge as possible regarding governance in anti-corruption matters. Because, the contribution of higher education institutions especially in IPDN, said Prio, must be able to become an example of financial management and good governance so that it can be trusted by the public.
