Ariyibi to Lead Greenwich Holdings.

Greenwich Holdings Limited has announced the appointment of Mr. Samson Ariyibi as its inaugural Group Managing Director. This appointment follows the receipt of all necessary regulatory approvals and precedes the official commencement of the company’s business operations.

The announcement highlights a significant step for Greenwich Holdings as it prepares to broaden its influence in the Nigerian financial sector. The company is poised to oversee a diverse portfolio, including Greenwich Merchant Bank Limited, Greenwich Asset Management Limited, and Greenwich Securities Limited, aiming to drive expansion across the entire group.

Mr. Kayode Falowo, Chairman of the Board, expressed his enthusiasm for the new appointment, stating, “The Board is delighted to welcome Ariyibi to the Greenwich Group. His appointment reflects our commitment to strong governance, strategic leadership and operational excellence as we embark on this important new phase of our corporate evolution.”

Ariyibi’s Extensive Experience

Ariyibi brings to the table a wealth of experience spanning over 34 years in the financial services industry. His career encompasses senior leadership roles in financial services, insurance underwriting, pensions, and conglomerate management. He began his professional journey at Ernst & Young in 1991 and later joined Price Waterhouse (now PwC) in 1996, where his dedication and competence quickly set him apart.

His most recent position was as Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer of First Holdco Plc, where he played a crucial role in strengthening financial governance and operational frameworks across the group. He joined First Holdco Plc in 2013 as a founding member and led the Finance team, successfully operationalizing the Financial Holding Company structure as approved by the Central Bank of Nigeria. Prior to that, he served as Group CFO of Transnational Corporation of Nigeria Plc, where he was instrumental in the company’s corporate turnaround.

A Career Spanning Prominent Institutions

Ariyibi’s career also includes senior finance positions at several leading financial institutions, including:

  • Standard Chartered Bank Nigeria
  • National Bank of Nigeria (now Wema Bank)
  • Standard Trust Bank (now UBA)
  • First Atlantic Bank (now FCMB)
  • Pensions Alliance Limited

These roles were complemented by board leadership positions within the First Holdco Group, showcasing his diverse skill set and experience.

Academic and Professional Achievements

Ariyibi’s educational background includes a BSc in Microbiology from the University of Ilorin and an MBA in Marketing from the University of Lagos. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria, a Certified Pension Institute of Nigeria member, and a Member of the Chartered Institute of Directors of Nigeria.

His commitment to professional development is evident through his participation in executive programs at prestigious institutions such as Harvard, Wharton, London Business School, Kellogg Advanced Management Programme, and the Global CEO Programme delivered by IESE Business School and MIT Sloan. He is also a recipient of the Knight of John Wesley award.
