President Jokowi Hosts China’s Foreign Minister at Merdeka Palace

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Monday (07/11) at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, received a courtesy call from Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China Wang Yi and his delegation.
“China once again expressed appreciation for Indonesia’s measures to seek a peaceful settlement for the current situation in Ukraine, including the President’s visits to Kyiv and Moscow,” said Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi after accompanying the President during the meeting.
Retno added that President Jokowi and the Chinese delegation also discussed various bilateral issues, including commitment between Indonesia and China to continue boosting mutually beneficial bilateral relations.
“We discussed various priority projects between the two countries, including the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed rail project. We also talked about cooperation in health sector, including vaccine and genomics joint laboratories, and measures to promote stronger cooperation among private sectors in the two countries,” Retno said.
The minister further said that China also praised Indonesia for the G20 Foreign Ministers’ meeting convened in Bali on Friday (07/08).
“China extended its appreciation for the G20 Foreign Ministers’ meeting. China also considered that Indonesia was successful in exercising its leadership so that the G20 Foreign Ministers’ meeting could run well amid the challenging global situation,” she remarked.
