President Jokowi Visits Former Muhammadiyah Chair

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Saturday (03/26) visited Ahmad Syafii Maarif, former Chairperson of Indonesian Muslim Organization Muhammadiyah, at his residence in Sleman regency.

“This afternoon I visited Buya Syafii Maarif. Thank God he is currently in good health. I heard he was hospitalized a few days ago, a few weeks ago,” the President said in his statement after the visit.

Arriving at 11.26 Western Indonesia Time, the President was greeted by Chairperson of Muhammadiyah Haedar Nasir.

For the record, Ahmad Syafii Maarif was hospitalized at PKU Muhammadiyah Gamping Hospital, Sleman, due to his illness.

President Jokowi said that he was delighted with Syafii Maarif ‘s condition, adding he also asked the public to pray for Syafii Maarif ‘s health.

“We pray together that he will always be granted health by Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala,” the President said.

On that occasion, Chairperson of Muhammadiyah Haedar Nashir expressed gratitude to the President for the visit.

“On behalf of Muhammadiyah and the big family of Muhammadiyah, I would like to express my gratitude to the President who, despite his busy schedule, has visited Syafii Maarif,” Haedar said. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/AIT) (RI/EP)
