Fulham manager Marco Silva has addressed the growing speculation surrounding a potential permanent deal for Nigerian winger Samuel Chukwueze, emphasizing that the club will not be rushed into making any decisions about the player’s future.

Chukwueze, currently on loan from AC Milan, has made a significant impact in recent weeks, notably securing a starting position after an impressive performance that included scoring twice as a substitute in Fulham’s thrilling 5-4 defeat against Manchester City.

These performances have led to suggestions that the London club is considering activating their option to buy the player outright. However, Silva was quick to temper expectations following a recent match, indicating that it is premature to discuss a permanent transfer at this stage.

“A permanent deal? I don’t think it’s the right time to talk about it. We have time to make that decision. We are relaxed about it, and so is he,” Silva stated. “He knows what he has to do; he knows he has to continue helping the team. At the right time, we’ll make the right decision.”

Silva has consistently praised Chukwueze’s development and professionalism since his arrival from Italy. He highlighted the player’s maturity, quality, and creative abilities, expressing a desire to see even more from him.

“He’s mature, has quality and is a creative player. We want to see more from him, even if he doesn’t have to prove his worth every single game, because he’s an international player who comes from a big European club and knows what pressure means,” Silva noted.

Beyond his on-field capabilities, Silva also emphasized Chukwueze’s positive influence within the team. “Beyond his qualities as a player, he spreads good vibes to everyone. He’s a good guy and enjoys battling with us every single day. It’s nice to see him always smiling. Then when he has to work, he works.”

Chukwueze himself has spoken about the strong connection he feels with Fulham supporters, stating that their encouragement has significantly boosted his confidence.

In an interview with the club’s official media channels, Chukwueze emphasized his bond with the fans, particularly after scoring twice against Manchester City.

“The fans are amazing, I love them. They love me, but I think it is more me who wants them,” he said. “Even at 5–1 they continued to believe it, they sang, they screamed, they pushed us a lot. I am happy with my current form. The most important thing for me is the coach who encourages me and keeps me on track.”

He also expressed his commitment to giving his best, regardless of the amount of playing time he receives. “Whether I play 10, 20 or 30 minutes does not count, I always have to give my best to help the team.”

Chukwueze was in the starting lineup for Fulham’s recent Premier League match, a game that saw them narrowly defeated at Craven Cottage by a late goal. Silva’s decision to start Chukwueze reflected the winger’s impact in the match against Manchester City.

Key Takeaways from Silva’s Comments:

  • No Rush on Permanent Deal: Fulham is taking a measured approach to any potential permanent deal for Chukwueze.
  • Focus on Present Performance: The emphasis is on Chukwueze continuing to contribute positively to the team.
  • Appreciation for Chukwueze’s Qualities: Silva values Chukwueze’s maturity, creativity, and positive attitude.
  • Impact of Fan Support: Chukwueze has acknowledged the significant role of Fulham’s fans in boosting his confidence.

While Chukwueze’s emergence has undoubtedly strengthened Fulham’s attacking options, Silva’s recent statements indicate that the club will postpone any decisions regarding his long-term future until later in the season, allowing them to thoroughly assess his overall impact on the team.
