ADC Launches Ambitious 90-Day Nationwide Membership Drive
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has officially commenced a comprehensive 90-day nationwide initiative focused on membership mobilization, revalidation, and registration (MMRR). This significant undertaking aims to invigorate the party’s grassroots presence and ensure a robust and engaged membership base across all regions.
In tandem with this membership drive, the ADC has also announced provisional timelines for its internal democratic processes, including crucial congresses and the election of delegates. These elections will take place at the foundational levels of the party, spanning polling units, wards, and local government areas.
Strategic Timelines and Key Milestones
According to official circulars disseminated by the National Secretary, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, the party’s congresses are provisionally scheduled to occur between January 20th and January 27th, 2026. This period marks a critical phase for internal party restructuring and candidate selection at various tiers.
The culmination of these internal elections and the broader membership drive will be the Non-Elective National Convention. This pivotal event is slated to be held in February 2026, with Abuja designated as the host city. The convention is expected to solidify the party’s direction and prepare it for future electoral engagements.
Driving Force Behind the Initiative
The ADC’s decision to embark on this extensive MMRR campaign and its associated electoral timetable stems directly from the resolutions adopted during the National Working Committee (NWC) meeting held on November 27th, 2025. This strategic move is in strict adherence to the governing principles and relevant provisions enshrined within the party’s constitution.
Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the National Publicity Secretary of the ADC, articulated the party’s vision in a statement released on Saturday. He emphasized that these activities are designed to:
- Expand the Party’s Reach: Actively engage with citizens across the nation to bring new members into the ADC fold.
- Strengthen Existing Membership: Provide an opportunity for current members to revalidate their status, ensuring an accurate and committed membership registry.
- Enhance Democratic Participation: Facilitate a transparent and inclusive process for electing delegates who will represent the grassroots at higher party levels.
- Prepare for Future Engagements: Lay a solid foundation for the party’s readiness for upcoming electoral cycles and policy formulation.
The ADC views this comprehensive mobilization as a vital step in reinforcing its commitment to democratic ideals and ensuring that the party remains responsive to the needs and aspirations of the Nigerian populace. The success of this initiative is anticipated to significantly bolster the party’s electoral prospects and its capacity to contribute meaningfully to national development. The party is calling on all its existing members and interested citizens to actively participate in the upcoming registration and revalidation processes, emphasizing that a strong and united membership is the bedrock of any successful political organization.
