Marjorie Taylor Greene, a prominent American politician known for her association with various conspiracy theories, made some more unconventional statements during a recent appearance on HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher. The Republican representative in the U.S. House of Representatives expressed her belief in demons, suggesting that they might be aliens who fell from heaven. She also admitted she was unaware that key figures in the antisemitic space lasers conspiracy she promoted were Jewish.
Interestingly, Greene has recently garnered unexpected support from some Democrats, who had previously opposed her. This shift occurred after she broke away from her Republican colleagues on several significant issues. These include healthcare, the situation in Gaza, the ongoing federal government shutdown that began on October 1, and the handling of documents related to Jeffrey Epstein, a former associate of Donald Trump.
During the show, host Bill Maher, known for his left-leaning views, asked his guests whether they believed in demons and the devil. Greene did not hesitate in her response, stating that as a Bible-believing Christian, she firmly believes in the existence of fallen angels. However, fellow guest Michael Moynihan, host of The Fifth Column podcast, disagreed with her theory.

Greene’s controversial 2018 social media post, which claimed that California wildfires were caused by a laser beam from space controlled by the Rothschild banking dynasty, was brought up during the interview. The Rothschild family, a historic European banking dynasty that gained prominence in the late 18th century, has long been the target of antisemitic conspiracy theories.
This post was uncovered by progressive watchdog group Media Matters just weeks into Greene’s first congressional term. At the same time, her colleagues voted to remove her from her House committee assignments. During the interview, Greene admitted she initially did not know that the Rothschild family was Jewish, even though the name is often associated with the religion. She said: “Before politics, I didn’t know much of any of this stuff. I never even used the word ‘Jewish’ in the post.”

Following her appearance on the show, Greene shared a clip from the interview discussing Obamacare on her X account. She stated: “It’s completely wrong that the American taxpayer is forced to foot the bill for so many others, including health insurance for illegal aliens.” Greene, who comes from the private sector, argued that if things can work there, the government should be able to do the same. However, she criticized Washington, saying that both Democrats and Republicans are stuck in their respective camps while lobbyists influence the writing of bills.
She blamed her own party for not addressing the problems with Obamacare, which she claims has hurt the middle class and small business owners through unaffordable premiums. One X user commented on her post, saying: “I’m glad you went on Bill Maher’s show last night. I’ve never been a fan of yours, but I enjoyed listening to you speaking clearly and explaining your points rather than spouting rhetoric. Well done! I hope this inspires others to pay more attention to their constituents.”
