Kiambu County Police Intercept Large Consignment of Cannabis

Police in Kiambu County, Kenya, have successfully intercepted a significant quantity of cannabis following a targeted anti-narcotics operation conducted in Kibiku on Monday. The operation, carried out by officers from the Kibiku Police Station in collaboration with the Kirangari Location Assistant Chief, was prompted by a valuable tip-off received from members of the public.

Authorities report the recovery of 1,508 rolls of cannabis and 1.5 kilograms of unprocessed cannabis. The estimated street value of the seized narcotics is approximately Sh200,000. During the operation, law enforcement officers apprehended one suspect, who is now in custody. The suspect is expected to be processed and subsequently arraigned in court to face charges related to drug trafficking. The seized drugs are currently secured at the Kibiku Police Station, where they are being held as crucial evidence as part of the ongoing investigations into the matter.

The National Police Service (NPS) has expressed its gratitude to the residents of Kiambu County for their cooperation in providing timely information that led to the successful recovery of the cannabis. Crackdown on Illicit Brews in Nandi County

In a separate incident on Friday, police officers in Nandi County arrested a man and recovered 51 litres of Chang’aa, a locally brewed illicit spirit, in Kabiyet Location. The arrest was the result of an operation conducted by officers based at Kabiyet Police Station, specifically targeting the production and distribution of illicit brews within the area.

During the operation, officers also discovered 60 litres of Kangara, a key ingredient used in the brewing of Chang’aa. The suspect was immediately taken into custody at the Kabiyet Police Station, where he is being held pending further police action. The seized Chang’aa and Kangara have been secured and are being stored at the same facility as evidence.

Teso South Police Seize 69 Kilograms of Suspected Cannabis

Further intensifying the fight against drug trafficking, officers from the National Police Service in Teso South recently recovered five sacks of suspected cannabis, weighing a total of 69 kilograms. The estimated street value of the seized narcotics is approximately Sh2,070,000.

The officers intercepted a Toyota Probox vehicle at Amaase Market. A search of the vehicle revealed the presence of the illegal substance concealed within. One suspect was apprehended at the scene and is currently in police custody, awaiting arraignment in court to face charges related to drug trafficking. Both the vehicle used to transport the cannabis and the seized narcotics have been secured as evidence.

Laikipia County Police Apprehend Suspect with Cannabis

In Laikipia County, a routine patrol operation conducted by officers from Nyahururu Police Station yielded a positive result in the ongoing effort to combat drug possession and distribution. During a patrol in the Bagation area, police officers intercepted and arrested a male suspect who was found to be in possession of 15 rolls of suspected cannabis. The suspect was immediately taken to Nyahururu Police Station, where the recovered cannabis was secured as an exhibit pending further legal action.

The police have stated that such operations are essential for safeguarding communities, particularly the youth, from the dangers associated with illicit drugs and substance abuse.

Vihiga County: Four Arrested for Possession of Illicit Brew

In Vihiga County, police officers from Luanda Police Station arrested four individuals for the possession of over 10 litres of Chang’aa on December 3rd. The suspects were taken into custody at the Luanda Police Station for processing and subsequent arraignment in court. The seized Chang’aa has been secured at the same facility as evidence.

These recent operations highlight the ongoing efforts of the Kenyan National Police Service to combat drug trafficking and substance abuse across the country.
