Manhunt Underway After Alleged Police Car Ramming on Brisbane’s Northside

A frantic search is underway for a man who allegedly rammed a police vehicle before fleeing on foot in Brisbane’s northern suburbs. The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon, sparking a significant police response that continued into the night.

The alleged ramming took place on Youngs Crossing Road in Joyner at approximately 3pm. Police report that the man was operating a white Kia Picanto, which is believed to have been fitted with stolen number plates. Following the collision with the rear of a police car, the driver reportedly absconded from the vehicle, making his escape on foot.

Officers engaged in a pursuit of the suspect, who led them through school grounds and private backyards. Despite the efforts of law enforcement, the man managed to evade capture, with police losing sight of him during the chase.

It is understood that the police vehicle involved in the collision was attempting to engage with the driver of a red Commodore sedan prior to the Kia Picanto striking it. The Kia Picanto has since been seized by police and will undergo forensic examination.

The search efforts extended well into Saturday night, with locals reporting the continued presence of police aircraft overhead. One concerned resident posted online at 11:26pm, noting, “It’s 11.26pm and I’m once again hearing the chopper circling after not hearing it for a little while.” This sentiment highlights the persistent nature of the police operation and the community’s awareness of the ongoing situation. The manhunt continues as police work to locate and apprehend the suspect.
